There is an odd electronic remix of “What I Built Last Night,” originally from the excellent “Survival is for Cowards” and reinterpreted here by producer Ed Rose, that remains an intriguing listen. There are also a slew of cover songs you might recognize. GOVERNMENT ISSUE's “For Ever”, THE CURE’s “Six Different Ways”, KILL CREEK's “Best Man”, SHUDDER TO THINK’s “Red House”, THE POLICE’s “Synchronicity II”, and HELMET's “In the Meantime”. But there is also plenty of material here that will leave you with the impression that if this album had been trimmed a little, and if you weren’t already familiar with the band’s back catalog, this disc could easily be mistaken for a fully cohesive and thoroughly enjoyable new studio album.
